In june there is the day of the lively, colourful and flamboyant Paris Pride parade. Celebrating its large gay and lesbian communities, Paris lives up to its liberal reputation with its annual Lesbian and Gay Pride, an event that has become one of the biggest and best celebrations of its kind in the world.

Each color of the Gay Pride Rainbow has a different meaning:

• Red, life;
• Orange, healing;
• Yellow, Sun;
• Green, nature;
• Blue, harmony;
• Violet, spirit.

In 2006, more than 800.000 people pack out the city’s streets to enjoy the party and watch the colourful procession of floats.
